When it comes to fancy veggies, Brussels sprouts are probably going to be towards the bottom of your list — if they make it there at all. Small and humble, the Brussel sprout doesn’t seem like a primary candidate when you want to whip up something sophisticated, and in fact I prefer them a little more rustic, tossed with bacon!
However, not too many people know that Brussels sprouts are pretty adaptable. When cooked right, they have a rather mild taste that you can pair with virtually anything. It’s actually overcooking that causes their bitter flavor to surface.
That said, if you’re looking for something to prepare for your next fancy dinner, this recipe for Brussels Sprouts With Honey Balsamic Glaze is worth exploring!
One important thing to remember is that this dish is all about timing. After all, you want to avoid overcooking this cruciferous veggie. You should have a timer on hand. Or, if you’re the type to cook using your senses, watch for when your Brussels sprouts are golden or if they’re already tender while steaming.
Honey, of course, complements the subtle sweetness of Brussels sprouts and gives this dish that rich, savory glaze. Balsamic vinegar adds in that sharp tang with a hint of sweetness, while Dijon mustard brings it all together with its characteristic flavor and a bit of spice. The syrupy texture from the honey coupled with the crunchy goodness of Brussels sprouts is what really makes this dish irresistible. Try to keep your fork out of the skillet, or else you might not have enough for your fancy dinner!
Don’t forget to serve your freshly cooked Brussels Sprouts With Honey Balsamic Glaze on a nice plate to give it that air of sophistication!
