Cucumber Gimlet(ish)

Cucumber and vodka are a classic flavor combination for a reason. They just work together so well! This easy recipe takes those two ingredients and mixes them with syrup for an invigorating twist on the classic cocktail. It’s a go-to drink for someone with an unlimited supply of cucumber, limes, and mint leaves (ahem, me). I first learned about a Cucumber Gimlet the day I realized I didn’t know what else to do with my cucumbers.

I love cooking, and I believe I’ve already tried all the possible food recipes that involve the fruits and vegetables in my garden, so I decided to search for cocktail recipes. It was a new feat for me, but I could immediately imagine serving refreshing cocktails to my friends during our girls’ nights in.

I came across this lime-heavy, classic gin cocktail called the “Cucumber Gimlet,” which is perfect for year-round sipping. They were a “gift from the Gods to sailors” because they prevented scurvy. Since I only had vodka (and not a sailor), I decided to try this gimlet(ish) recipe instead. The result? It was amazing!

I’ve always loved how vodkas taste like spicy water. And cucumbers? They have this unique flavor that can make any drink thirst-quenching. That’s what they do to this gimlet! It’s like a flavor chameleon that can make any drink taste refreshing. What makes this recipe even more special is everything is homemade! From mint vodka to lime syrup, I can find everything I need in my garden.

And let’s not forget the ice cubes! I made them with mint, mint flowers, lemon, and cucumber blossoms!

On days when I feel like I deserve a break, I make myself a Cucumber Gimlet (ish). I simply go out to my backyard, pick some cucumbers, and accept the gift that is this drink!
