Homemade Medicine Ball Tea Bombs

This drink blends citrusy notes with a touch of honey, creating a soothing remedy when you’re feeling under the weather. While there’s nothing like swinging by a drive-through for a quick pick-me-up, there’s a certain magic in making your own version at home. That’s where my Homemade Medicine Ball Tea Bombs come in.

The idea for these tea bombs started after a serendipitous find—a local coffee shop with their own twist on the classic medicine ball, featuring a punch of fresh ginger that kept me coming back for more. But then a thought struck me: why not create my own version, one that’s easy to prepare at home and perfect for storing away in the freezer? With that, my quest for Homemade Medicine Ball Tea Bombs began.

These tea bombs are essentially little frozen pods of flavor that transform a simple cup of hot water into a comforting elixir. They pack a punch with lemon, ginger, and honey, all wrapped up in convenient cubes that will cool down a blazing hot cup of mint or chamomile tea.

The beauty of making these at home is that you control the ingredients. Fresh lemon juice and zest bring a vibrant citrus kick, while ginger adds a gentle heat. Honey balances the flavors with a natural sweetness, creating a soothing drink that’s perfect for those colder months.

Despite the trial and error, making these tea bombs turned into a meditative process. There’s something satisfying about squeezing lemons, blending everything together, and tucking those trays into the freezer, knowing you’re creating little moments of comfort for later. And once frozen, they’re incredibly versatile—you can drop them into hot tea, add one to a toddy, or even use them to flavor a glass of sparkling water for a refreshing twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 lemons, washed, squeezed, and zested
  • 1 piece of fresh ginger (about 3 inches), scrubbed and washed
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Mint tea bags

Instructions

  1. Combine the lemon juice, lemon zest, ginger, raw honey and water in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight. You can fill them half-way to make smaller cubes that are less potent.
  3. When you’re ready to enjoy a soothing drink, steep a mint tea bag in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes.
  4. Drop a frozen cube into the tea and stir until dissolved. Serve hot and enjoy!
