Salted Caramel Eggnog
In my house, the Christmas season isn’t officially here until I’ve had my first sip of eggnog. The creamy, thick, eggy texture is like the liquid version of a hug. The salted caramel adds a gourmet touch that’s like something you’d get from a fancy café.

Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 2 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg, plus extra for garnish
- 5 large eggs
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup dark rum
- 1/2 cup caramel syrup
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- Whipped topping
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the milk, cream, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Be careful that the milk doesn’t boil over the pan. As soon as you see it bubbling, remove from the heat. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes to steep.
- Using a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the eggs and sugar on medium-high speed until fully combined. Pour the egg mixture into the milk and whisk quickly until fully combined. Add the rum, caramel syrup, and salt and whisk to combine.
- Pour the eggnog into 6 glasses, leaving a bit of room at the top. Garnish with whipped topping and nutmeg and serve.
