How to Make Blackberry Mulled Wine
Create a juicy blackberry mulled wine from scratch with the help of a pre-mulled spiced apple cider and a touch of port for sweetening
- Category: Beverages
- 1 bottle cheap red wine
- 3 cups apple cider
- 1 cup port
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 6 oz blackberries
- 3 whole star anise pods
- 1 orange, sliced
- Add all the above, except the orange, to a slow cooker over low heat until hot. I like to use a slow cooker so that you can keep the blackberry mulled wine hot and serve it up easily.
- Add the orange at the end for about 15 minutes before serving— the rind can make it bitter if you let it cook the whole time.
- Serve in a mug, garnished with fresh blackberries and oranges.
- If you don’t have a slow cooker, or simply want to make it on the stove, simply bring to a simmer over low heat for an hour, and be careful not to boil it.
