Blueberry-Sage Smash Mocktail

Discovering the Blueberry-Sage Smash was like finding a hidden gem in my mocktail journey. It all started with our Lavender Simple Syrup, which honestly sat in my fridge for days because I couldn’t decide what to do with it. Then one afternoon, staring at some fresh blueberries and a flourishing sage plant in my garden, something clicked.

There’s something almost poetic about how the flavors come together in this drink. The floral notes from the Lavender Simple Syrup create this gorgeous foundation that lets the blueberries shine without overpowering them. But it’s the sage that really makes this drink special – it adds this subtle earthiness that makes people pause and say, “Wow, what am I tasting?”

I love that moment of anticipation when you’re muddling the sage leaves and the aroma starts to fill the air. It gives you a little preview of the complexity you’re about to experience. Just remember to be gentle with the sage – you want to coax out its flavors, not beat them into submission!

This has become my go-to drink when I want to impress without being showy. It’s sophisticated enough for an upscale dinner party but approachable enough for a casual garden gathering. The deep purple-blue color is absolutely stunning, especially when you float a few fresh blueberries on top and garnish with a perfect sage leaf.

Here’s my secret tip: use room temperature blueberries for muddling – they release their juice more easily. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try freezing some blueberries with tiny sage leaves in ice cubes. As they melt, they create these beautiful purple swirls while adding extra flavor to your drink.
