Grilled watermelon and pineapple skewers

When it comes to grilling, most people think about meats like chicken, beef, pork, and fish. But I think of Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Skewers. Believe it or not, grilling began as far back as 400,000 years ago, at the time fire was domesticated by our primitive ancestors. However, it wasn’t until around the 1940s that grilling became a backyard activity as most grilling happened at picnics and campsites up until that time. Hot dogs, barbecues, hamburger patties — these and many more seem to be the staple of most backyard grills.

But what about grilling sweet fruits?

Totally possible! You’ll be surprised just how amazing grilled sweet fruits taste!

Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Skewers are a great place to start if you have yet to discover just how wonderful grilled sweet fruits are. Aside from being easy to prepare, Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Skewers have an amazing flavor that’s just as vibrant as their colors!

Fresh watermelon and pineapple chunks are the stars of the show in this delightful dessert. Both fruits have their own distinct sweetness and juiciness, with watermelon being a bit milder while pineapples have a slightly more intense flavor. When grilled, these brightly colored fruits become astoundingly sweeter. But, it doesn’t stop there: with a sprinkling of unrefined granulated sugar and cinnamon sugar, you can satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling guilty. Cinnamon sugar, in particular, adds a warm, earthy, even slightly spicy kick to your Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Skewers.

Taking your dessert’s sweetness levels to different heights is the addition of some warm fudge sauce of your choice. Alternatively, if you want something to balance out the sweetness, serving your Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Skewers with feta cheese will give you a more savory dish. Either way, you’ll definitely enjoy these Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Skewers when capping off your meals.
