There are some mornings that I just don’t want to get out of bed. It’s so warm under the covers and if I’m lucky, the cat is curled up beside me. It’s especially tough on rainy mornings. I’m just not ready for the day when that alarm goes off. These are also the mornings I have to rush to either get out of the house or dress up for an office Zoom meeting.

I also really enjoy breakfast. As you can imagine, sleeping in until the last possible minute and sitting down for breakfast and making it to whatever I have scheduled can be quite the challenge. That’s when I take advantage of this Raspberry Blackberry Smoothie recipe. It’s quick, filling, and full of nutrition.

Fresh raspberries and blackberries are always a welcome addition to breakfast (or an afternoon snack!), while the banana and yogurt help satisfy that need for something that takes care of that growling stomach. Honey gives the smoothie that perfect bit of sweetness without getting too sugary. In other words, this Raspberry Blackberry Smoothie meets all your breakfast needs.

If it’s not fresh berry season, frozen berries work, too. Or if you want to get a little fancy, add a few fresh mint leaves to the smoothie and garnish it with fresh berries and mint. Let me tell you, in the right glass, that little “extra” can look extra fancy if you want to treat yourself or a guest.

And if you’re not running behind for a meeting, this makes a nice accompaniment to a piece of toast with butter or with homemade berry jam. I hope you enjoy this smoothie recipe as much as I’ve enjoyed it over the years!

Very good. Very thick. Could do without the banana or maybe just a half.

      Joann,
Bananas definitely have a strong flavor and can overwhelm other ingredients, but they really add a great consistency and lots of nutrients to smoothies. Definitely play around with the amount – I like to freeze banana slices so I can take a handful as needed and not feel obligated to use the whole banana!
      Enjoy.
