Blackberry Barbecue Sauce

And you thought blackberry jam was only for toast! Here it is stirred up with a few spicy ingredients to make a sweet, pungent sauce that’s great for pork, chicken, or ribs.

  • Author: Norann Oleson
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: Makes 2 cups 1x
  • Category: Sides & Sauces

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup blackberry preserves
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 2 small green onions, minced
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 pinch smoked sea salt

Instructions

  1. Stir ketchup, blackberry preserves, bourbon, green onions, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and sea salt together in a bowl. Because this is a sweet sauce and will burn if cooked too long or over too high heat, use to baste during the last few minutes of grilling.
