A popular mushroom with a rich, earthy flavor, often grown on hardwood logs or sawdust blocks.
Light Exposure:
- Indirect sunlight or fluorescent lighting
 
Substrate pH:
- 5.5 to 6.5
 
Growing Zones:
- USDA zones 4 to 9 for outdoor log cultivation
 
Spacing:
- Logs spaced 4 to 6 inches apart; blocks spaced 6 inches apart
 
Moisture:
- Keep logs damp; mist sawdust blocks to maintain moisture
 
Notes:
- Long cultivation cycle but high yields. Excellent in broths and sautéed dishes.
