Hass avocados

Hass, worldwide, is the most popular commercially grown avocado. It is durable, making it easy to transport and easier for home growers to harvest without damaging the fruit, and has a reliable shelf life. It is prized for its lovely green-skin, oval fruit with a pebbly texture and pleasing appearance against the lush, glossy foliage. It is the standard to which all avocados are compared to today. Hass grows all year long.

Characteristics:

  • Type A
  • Varies in size from 5 to 12 ounces
  • Easy to peel
  • Flesh is soft, creamy, and barely fibrous, with good oil content
  • Flavor is rich and nutty with a slightly sweet finish

Do you grow Hass avocados? If so, please tell us what you love about them.
