Black Diamond watermelons

Black Diamond is an heirloom, open-pollinated variety, and a popular choice for both commercial and home growers for many reasons. Mature melons have very hard, dark-colored rinds and sweet, pink-red flesh. Try to scratch this one with a fingernail to find out if it’s ripe. If it’s too hard to scratch, you’re ready to go.

  • Vines need 3 to 5 feet of space

  • Water deeply 1 to 2 inches per week
