Strawberry Limeade

Okay, a show of hands — do you make sure you’re well-hydrated whenever you’re out working in your garden, especially if the sun’s beating down on you? I’ll be the first to admit that it slips my mind sometimes. I’ll be happily puttering about while up to my elbows in dirt, whether I’m planting new seeds, rearranging the layouts, doing a bit of landscaping, pulling up rocks, or even weeding. Before I know it, I’d have spent hours outside with nary a sip of water – or a Strawberry Limeade!

Now, that’s not particularly healthy. So, I spent some time in my kitchen experimenting with what I had on hand to make something that would be the perfect drink to enjoy on my gardening sprees, and I landed on this recipe!

Strawberries are some of my favorite plants to grow because seeing that cheerful pop of red never fails to put me in a good mood and, as a bonus — they’re tasty. Simple as that. With a new batch freshly harvested from the garden, I wanted to use them for making a drink. I was fresh out of lemons but I did have limes, and thus, my Strawberry Limeade recipe was born.

Who knew that strawberries and limes would go so well together? The acidic, sweet-sour taste is absolutely delightful when you’ve been busy working all day. Aside from being refreshing and intensely satisfying to drink, it’s also incredibly easy to make. All you need is lime juice, cold water, sugar, strawberries, and your trusty blender! And ice cubes, of course, to really boost that refreshing coolness.

Don’t let my gardening anecdotes fool you, however — it’s just as satisfying to sip on a cool glass of this addicting Strawberry Limeade even when you’re just lazing on the couch!
