Slobolt lettuce has been a garden standard since 1946. Nobody likes it when their lettuce bolts, and this variety is extremely slow-bolting. It produces loose, ruffly, sweet green leaves. You can harvest it all summer if you want, one leaf at a time. Leaves are never bitter.

  • Full to partial sun (six to eight hours)

Soil pH

  • 6.2 to 6.8

Hardiness Zones

  • 4 to 9

  • Thin to 12 inches apart for heads; 3 inches apart for cut-and-come-again
  • Plant rows 12 inches apart

  • Water deeply 1 inch a week; do not let soil dry out

  • Very slow to bolt
  • Harvest all summer
  • Good for cut-and-come-again harvesting
