Ha’Ogen melons were developed on the Ogen kibbutz in Israel; Ha’Ogen means the anchor. These heirloom melons could be the anchor of your melon crop. This plant produces melons that are about 3 pounds each. The pale green flesh has a distinctive light orange ring around the seed cavity. Rich with flavor, these melons can hold their own as breakfast or even dessert. Roast the seeds for an extra treat!

  • thin to three to four plants in a 12-inch mound

    • prefers well-drained, sandy loam soil with lots of direct sunlight
    • black plastic mulch does a great job of retaining soil heat and deterring weeds
