Detroit Dark Red beets

If you’re looking for the king of beets, you will find it in the Detroit Dark Red. This classic beet variety is rich in color and texture. It can be planted in early spring or in late summer, and you can enjoy both the roots and the greens. This classic heirloom variety was introduced in 1892 by the D. M. Ferry Seed Company as “Detroit Dark Red Turnip.” It has deep red, rounded roots with smooth skin, and is excellent for canning, roasting, and slicing raw in salads.
