Belstar Broccoli

Belstar is a strong, stress-tolerant heading broccoli variety. Like most broccoli cultivars, Belstar prefers cooler temps, but tolerates heat better than most broccoli, performing particularly well in southern states in the winter. Belstar produces medium green, well-domed heads; once the heads are harvested, watch for a plentiful second harvest of side shoots.

Sun exposure:

  • Full sun (six to eight hours)

Soil pH:

  • 6.0 to 7.5

Hardiness Zones:

  • 3 to 11
  • Spacing:

    • Thin to 18 inches apart
    • Space rows 18 to 36 inches apart

    Moisture:

    • 1 to 1.5 inches per week depending on rainfall

    Notes:

    • Good broccoli flavor
    • 6- to 8-inch heads
    • Grows to 16 to 20 inches high
    • Matures in 66 days
    • Heat tolerant
    • Disease resistant

Have you tried growing Belstar broccoli? What region do you grow them in? Please tell us your experiences growing Belstar broccoli.
