Dragon’s tongue romano bush green beans
The Dragon’s Tongue Romano bush bean is a striking addition to any garden. Delicate purple flowers give way to beans that turn yellow with purple streaks when ready to harvest. One of the few green bean cultivars that can be eaten raw, they are juicy and crunchy when freshly picked. When cooked, they lose their purple streaks, but you’ll forgive these beans when you taste their sweet, buttery flavor.

- Harvest when beans are yellow with purple streaks, about 6 to 8 inches long
- The more sun exposure, the more pronounced the purple streaks

This was our first year growing Dragon tongue and we loved them. We are in zone 7b and planted them as our second crop mid July. They were still producing mid October when we got our first frost. no pest issues (our early crop of green and wax beans were eaten up by beetles).
