The Bosc pear is often called the aristocrat of pears. In the fall, you can look forward to a heavy crop of long-necked, warm cinnamon colored pears. The fruit is firm, juicy, and sweet. Bosc pears are great for eating, canning, and baking. They can be stored for up to three months. Like other European pears, the Bosc needs a pollination buddy such as Bartlett or Anjou. This cultivar is susceptible to fire blight.
