We all love dirt! In fact, we love it so much that we dedicated an entire issue to it. March 2023 brought us “The Dirt Issue.” We delved into “The Smell and Taste of Soil,” explored “DIY Soil Testing for Vegetable Gardens,” and even provided tips on “Composting in the Winter.” We truly wanted to get our hands dirty (pun totally intended). This has since become one of our favorite issues at Food Gardening Network.
It seems we aren’t the only ones who loved this issue! We are thrilled to announce that Food Gardening Network recently received the 2024 Media Awards Silver Laurel Medal of Achievement for Magazine for Consumer or Trade, presented by GardenComm: Garden Communicators International, for “The Dirt Issue.”
This national award recognizes individuals and companies who achieve the highest levels of talent and professionalism in garden communications. The 2024 competition had 126 entries across 39 categories. Recipients of the Silver Medal represent the best in their category and will now compete for Gold Medals (fingers crossed that we win the Gold).
“The GardenComm Media Awards showcase writers, photographers, editors, videographers, social media managers, publishers, and trade companies that have demonstrated excellence in garden communications in print or electronic communications,” says C.L. Fornari, president of GardenComm.
GardenComm, Garden Communicators International, is an organization of professional communicators in the green and garden industry. Its members include book authors, bloggers, staff editors, syndicated columnists, freelance writers, photographers, speakers, landscape designers, television and radio personalities, consultants, publishers, extension service agents, and more. Since the early 1980s, the GardenComm Media Awards program has recognized outstanding writing, photography, graphic design, and illustration for books, newspaper stories, magazine articles, and other works focused on gardening.
We are incredibly proud to accept this award and would like to extend a giant THANK YOU to all our loyal readers. Your input and feedback help us create better content. Hopefully, we can bring home the Gold for you! The full list of winners will be available on the GardenComm website following the 2024 Annual Honors & Awards event on August 28th at 6:30 pm ET, held in conjunction with the GardenComm Annual Conference presented by Proven Winners® ColorChoice®, from August 26-30.
