Fireball Apple Crumble

Fireball Apple Crumble

So one day I had this bottle of Fireball sitting on the counter after a holiday party, and I thought, why not give this apple crumble a little kick? One whiff of that cinnamon whisky mixing with the warm apples, and I knew this would be a regular in our fall dessert rotation.

This Fireball Apple Crumble is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, with tender apples that melt in your mouth and a golden, buttery crumble that’s just begging for a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The Fireball adds a cinnamon warmth that makes every bite feel like a cozy sweater, without being too overpowering. It’s like a classic apple crumble that got a fun upgrade—one that keeps people coming back for seconds (and maybe thirds).

The best part? It’s as easy to make as it is delicious. You only need about 20 minutes of prep time before it heads into the oven, making it a great option whether you’re hosting a big family dinner or just craving something special for a quiet evening in. And trust me, it’s the kind of dessert that fills the whole house with that irresistible, spiced apple aroma—one of those smells that just screams “fall is here!”

I love making this for gatherings, especially around the holidays. It’s a real crowd-pleaser at potlucks, and it’s the kind of dessert that makes everyone ask for the recipe. But honestly, it’s just as wonderful when you’re curled up on the couch, binge-watching your favorite show. And if you’re like me, you’ll enjoy that little bit of whisky-soaked apples as a perfect excuse to call it a grown-up treat.

Fireball Apple Crumble brings a spicy twist to a classic apple crumble with the addition of Fireball cinnamon whisky,

  • Author: Amanda MacArthur
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 45 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x
  • Category: Bakery

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Filling:
    • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 cup Fireball cinnamon whisky
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Crumble Topping:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup rolled oats
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Prepare the Apple Filling:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
    • Add the Fireball whisky and vanilla extract, stirring well to ensure everything is mixed. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes so the flavors can blend.
  • Make the Crumble Topping:
    • In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
    • Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. It should clump together when pressed between your fingers.
  • Assemble the Crumble:
    • Spread the apple filling evenly in the prepared baking dish.
    • Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, making sure to cover them completely.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crisp.
  • Cool and Serve: Let the crumble cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • Apple Choice: Granny Smith apples add a tart flavor, while Honeycrisp adds sweetness. Mixing them gives a balanced taste.
  • For Extra Crunch: Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumble topping.
  • Alcohol-Free Option: You can replace the Fireball whisky with 1/4 cup apple cider and an extra teaspoon of cinnamon if you prefer a non-alcoholic version.

So, go ahead and give this Fireball Apple Crumble a try! The combination of tart Granny Smiths and sweet Honeycrisps, topped with that buttery, cinnamon-oat crumble, is pure magic. And if you want to add your own twist—maybe some chopped pecans in the topping or swapping the Fireball for apple cider—I’d love to hear about it! Let me know how it turns out or what tweaks you made. Drop a comment and let’s swap notes on our favorite ways to enjoy this boozy, cinnamon-spiced take on a classic.
