If you like your okra fried, then Star of David okra is an excellent choice. This heirloom, open-pollinated plant produces short, thick pods with deep ribs. When you slice them, the cross sections look like a star. These pods are thicker and shorter than traditional okra; pick the pods when they’re about 3 to 4 inches long.
