The Long Island variety is the most popular for home gardeners and has been a favorite since the 1890s. The stalks grow to about 2 feet, and this heirloom plant can produce up to 100 sprouts over an extended harvest season! The heads are closely set on the stalks, develop a rich, dark green color, and grow up to 2 inches in diameter. They’re ideal for fresh cooking, and they freeze well, too.
