This is a late-producing avocado that grows in mid-winter, when earlier varieties begin to go dormant for the season. It has a lovely upright stature for your yard that offers the appeal of a tropical forest tree. Bacon is a self-fertile avocado variety that requires no other varieties nearby to ensure success. It has smooth, green skin. Protect it from frost since it grows throughout the winter into spring.

- Smooth, thin skin that is dark green with speckles
- Central pit is large and causes the seed cavity to mold, making it highly perishable when ripe
- Flesh is pale green and less oily than Hass avocados
- Flavor is comparable to Hass with a buttery, creamy texture
