While all cucumbers prefer warm weather, Ashley cucumbers thrive in warm, humid conditions and are resistant to downy mildew, making them perfect for humid climates. It’s no surprise that this heirloom variety was developed in 1956 in Charleston, South Carolina. Ashley cucumbers have dark green skin with a rough texture, and the plants produce lots of fruit, making them popular with home gardeners.
