The Harvest Festival and Other New British Folktales

Welcome to our new StoryBook

By Don Nicholas

As a lifelong aficionado of folklore and enchanting tales, my anticipation for “The Harvest Festival and Other New British Folktales” was palpable from the moment we planned its creation. The moment I opened this green print storybook, I knew I was about to embark on a journey through the heart of British countryside traditions, brought to life with the brilliance only illustrator Christy Page can deliver.

This anthology is a masterful collection that weaves together the rich tapestry of British rural life. Each of the ten stories is a gem, polished by the careful hands of storytellers who have inherited the legacy of their ancestors. The illustrations, vibrant and detailed, perfectly complement the narratives, making the book a visual feast as well as a literary treasure.

One of the stories that particularly captivated me was about a wise old oak tree, which, over centuries, had become the guardian of a village’s secrets. The tale, rich in metaphor and subtle wisdom, left me reflecting on the connection between nature and human life. Similarly, the story of the babbling brook, whose melody could enchant and heal, was a delightful reminder of the magic that lies in the natural world.

The centuries old legacy of British storytelling prowess is evident in every line, every character, and every setting. The characters are vividly brought to life – from sentient flora that whisper secrets to wise animals that guide lost travelers. The seamless blend of whimsy and profound life lessons makes this anthology a compelling read for both children and adults alike.

Reading “The Harvest Festival and Other New British Folktales” is like taking a stroll through the countryside, where every turn reveals a new wonder. The book beautifully captures the essence of harvest festivals, where community, nature, and tradition converge to create moments of pure magic. Each story is a celebration of the simple joys and profound wisdom found in everyday rural life.

For those who hold a special place in their hearts for folklore, this anthology is an indispensable addition to your collection. It invites readers to not only enjoy the stories but to also reflect on the timeless lessons they impart. With every turn of the page, you will be transported to a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the harvest of wisdom is as plentiful as the fields of Britain.

I wholeheartedly recommend “The Harvest Festival and Other New British Folktales” to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the magic of British rural traditions. We hope you enjoy “The Harvest Festival and Other New British Folktales” as much as we do.

This is positively beautiful and I am especially very much in love with England, or at least the England of olde! Thank you for giving us this option to print this lovely book, and I also very much am in admiration of Christy’s perfection in artwork! You all have no idea how I appreciate this online publication and I receive not only so much “bounty” from its pages within, but also from the camaraderie of all who make up GreenPrints! This online publication is brilliant with incredible stories and art. However, I still can’t find the “Download Print” button at the right of any page.
