“I love Food Gardening Network! I get more from the information for planting times, individual crop and herb information, crop harvest and storage information and alternatives, i.e. if you don’t have a cellar for cold storage foods, and interviews with individual gardeners.”
- Marilyn I.
“I am so sad when I look out at our garden and you have given me new hope! We are new to middle TN and still trying to figure out what to plant if at all. Thank you!”

Some tips from our community:
“I’ve had a compost tumbler for many years now. It’s so easy to use. I use my leaf blower to suck up a bunch of leaves in the fall which chops them up nicely. I fill up half of the tumbler with the dried out leaves and start my composting. I spin it every couple days and I look to see if it’s dry and if it has any kind of smell. It’s very easy to balance the greens and the browns. I love that no animals can get into it and I can move it around anywhere in my backyard so it gets the most sunlight.”
- Linda
“Cantaloupe works vertically as long as you support the growing melons. Old pantyhose does the job quite nicely and they can be reused many times.”
- Tara S.
