As the seasons change and holidays approach, there’s one appetizer that has stood the test of time and tickled taste buds across generations: Ants on a Log. As a child, the classic combo of peanut butter, raisins, and celery was a staple at every family gathering. But since my move to New England, I’ve stumbled upon a delightful twist that has added a burst of cranberry goodness to this timeless treat–introducing Craisins on a Log!

Being an avid cranberry enthusiast, I find ways to sneak these little ruby-red gems into every meal. From granola to salads and even yogurt, Craisins have become my go-to ingredient. But incorporating them into a childhood favorite has brought a whole new level of joy to my culinary adventures.

The Origin of the Craisins on a Log:

The story begins with my love for the vibrant cranberry bogs that dot the New England landscape. Inspired by the region’s rich cranberry heritage, I decided to replace the raisins in the classic Ants on a Log with the tart and sweet goodness of Ocean Spray Craisins. Little did I know, this simple tweak would turn a traditional appetizer into a festive masterpiece perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • Crisp and fresh celery stalks from your garden or local farmstand
  • High-quality peanut butter
  • Ocean Spray Craisins

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Celery Stalks: Wash and trim the celery stalks, ensuring they are crisp and ready to be the foundation of your delicious creation.
  • Spread the Peanut Butter: Take a generous dollop of high-quality peanut butter and spread it along the concave side of each celery stalk. Don’t be shy–the more, the merrier!
  • Sprinkle on the Craisins: Time for the star of the show! Liberally sprinkle Ocean Spray Craisins over the peanut butter, letting their sweet and tart flavors complement the creamy nuttiness.
  • Arrange and Serve: Line up your Craisins on a Log on a festive platter, and watch as they steal the spotlight at any gathering. The vibrant colors and delightful flavors make this appetizer a hit from Christmas to the Fourth of July.

Serving Suggestion:

Pair Craisins on a Log with a refreshing glass of cranberry-infused lemonade for the ultimate berrylicious experience. The tartness of the lemonade perfectly complements the sweet and savory combination of peanut butter and Craisins.

Whether you’re reliving childhood memories or introducing a new generation to this playful twist on a classic, Craisins on a Log is sure to become a beloved addition to your repertoire of festive appetizers. So, gather your loved ones, embrace the nostalgia, and let the good times roll with this cranberry-infused delight!
