As much as I love baking, even I can admit that it can sometimes feel tedious. Who wants to get home after a long day at work and worry about frosting something perfectly? For those lazy days, this homemade dessert hardly feels like any work at all! You’re still rewarded with a chocolaty masterpiece when it comes out of the oven.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, shredded coconut, oats, and brown sugar, stirring with a spatula or wooden spoon to break up any lumps.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the vegetable oil, water, and eggs and mix with a fork. Add to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Pour into the prepared baking dish, spreading it to the sides and corners in an even layer.
  4. Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips and walnuts evenly over the top. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes; cool completely on a wire rack. Top with additional chocolate chips and walnuts, cut into squares, and serve.
