Green Onion (Scallion) Oil

This is a perfect aromatic oil you can use to give a little boost to dishes in so many ways—in stir fry, soup, salad, marinade, and more. It’s easy to make; you just need to be patient—and attentive—while you let the scallions simmer.




  1. Pour oil into a deep frying pan.
  2. Add the white sections of the scallions to the warm oil and simmer over medium-low heat until the scallions begin to wrinkle.
  3. Add the green sections of the scallions and simmer until the greens turn brown.
  4. Remove from heat immediately and let the mixture cool.
  5. Store oil (including scallion pieces) in a sterilized jar in the fridge. Use within a month.
