Ingredients
Scale
For the Filling:
6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup Fireball cinnamon whisky
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Crumble Topping:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
Prepare the Apple Filling:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Add the Fireball whisky and vanilla extract, stirring well to ensure everything is mixed. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes so the flavors can blend.
Make the Crumble Topping:
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. It should clump together when pressed between your fingers.
Assemble the Crumble:
Spread the apple filling evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, making sure to cover them completely.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crisp.
Cool and Serve: Let the crumble cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence.
Notes
Apple Choice: Granny Smith apples add a tart flavor, while Honeycrisp adds sweetness. Mixing them gives a balanced taste.
For Extra Crunch: Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumble topping.
Alcohol-Free Option: You can replace the Fireball whisky with 1/4 cup apple cider and an extra teaspoon of cinnamon if you prefer a non-alcoholic version.
